Literature for Children and Young Adults (LCYA) Student Club Hosts the Book Sharing #2 Event
Today, Saturday, May 11, 2024, the Literature for Children and Young Adults (LCYA) student club hosts Book Sharing #2 at S.203 in the Faculty of Letters' building. 11 students are attending this event. They shared the books that they had read with one another. Many book genres are shared in this event, ranging from classic literature to recent or contemporary fiction. This event provides a relevant place for students to express their views and voices and practice their English.
LCYA is a student club in the English Letters Department Universitas Sanata Dharma, established around 3-4 years ago. With Ms. Theresia Enny Anggraini's advice, this club focuses on reading, analysing, and sharing books written for children and young adults. Their activities align with the materials and theories they get in LCYA class. So, this club provides extra-curricular activities in addition to the curricular LCYA course. The full academic guidelines can be downloaded here.

The participants of Book Sharing #2 expressed their opinions towards the books they read after recounting the plots and narratives and literary elements such as the POV, the settings, the characters and their characterization, the theme, etc. They can also deliver their critical thinking about those elements. Moreover, the event provides a space for students to practice their English language skills in a supportive environment. Participants can strengthen their English senses by engaging in discussions and expressing their thoughts on literature. Some book titles discussed and presented in the events are, among others: "The Spiderwick Chronicles", "The Chronicles of Narnia", "Avatar the Last Airbender", "Not Today, Human", “The Secret Seven”, etc.

“For me, today's event is so fun. Here each of us shares about the book we have read, especially about the adventure genre. Through this, I got a lot of aspiration and recommendation of many wonderful books. I'm looking forward for the next book sharing!” said Dinda Imanuela Hubi Lerrick (214214153)
"I was curious if others had recommendations for good books. Guess what? Turns out, I got the answer when attending the Book Sharing event by LCYA. I was able to discover stories that I had never read before" added by Karla Gita Siahaya (224214041)
