There were approximately 110 people who participated as commitee, participants, and the presenters in this conference. This conference started at 7:30am and everyone was welcomed by our committees in the hallway. The conference was opened by the Vice Rector of Students Affairs, Universitas Sanata Dharma, to welcome all the presenters and participants. Ms. Elisabeth Arti W, Ph.D as the plenary speaker started the conference by giving speech about Problematizing the Status of Literature and especially the Theater in Relation to The Question of Justice. Ms. Arti is an English Letters Department's lecturer in Universitas Sanata Dharma for years. Right after Ms. Arti giving her speech, Mr. Achmad Munjid Ph.D later gave his speech about Revisiting Fiction in A Troubled World. After presentations from ELUC's plenary speakers, the participants got into smaller classes to hear more presentations from the presenters who had submitted their paper one month prior to the conference. There were more than 40 presenters from various universities, such as Gadjah Mada University, Respati University, Ahmad Dahlan Universities, and various universities across the country. The variations of the subtopics that the presenters had chosen were interesting and covered many aspects of literature works such as songs, poems, short stories, and even novels.
Not only gaining more knowledge about literature, English Letters Undergraduate Conference has become a platform for undergraduate students to practice and improve their writing and public speaking skills as they write & present their paper. See you next time at ELUC 2018! (Rityasiwi Gita)
