Recording Session Sets the Stage for "Dear Yesterday" - An Original Musical Drama by English Letters Students
For the 2024 Play Performance, an annual activity showing the creativity of the English Letters students, a rigorous voice recording session was conducted on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Faculty of Letters Mini Studio. This session is a significant step in the preparation of an original musical drama titled "Dear Yesterday," with the script originally crafted by English Letters students.
The integral role played by the musicians cannot be overstated, as they provided the foundational instrumental tracks that served as the backdrop for the actors' and actresses' vocal performances. This collaborative synergy between vocalists and musicians promises to deliver a harmonious fusion of voice and music, creating a satisfying auditory experience for audiences. Actors and actresses arrived early on campus, engaging in vocal warm-up exercises to ensure their voices were primed and ready for the recording.

Adopting a careful approach to ensure precision and coherence in the final production, the actors and actresses were recorded separately, three by three. This method not only allows for individual vocal nuances and color tones to be captured but also streamlines the postproduction workflow, enabling seamless mixing and editing of the recorded tracks. Despite initial challenges in securing the necessary recording equipment, the team's commitment and resourcefulness shone through as they used their own gear for the session. The support provided by the language laboratory further facilitated the recording process, offering an acoustically optimized environment that enhanced the quality of the audio recording. The Faculty of Letters Mini Studio, a versatile facility equipped with soundproofing and specialized lighting, continues to serve as a nurturing space for students' creative projects, fostering innovation and artistic expression.
"Dear Yesterday" intricately explores themes of resilience, memory, and interpersonal relationships. The story follows a girl's journey in rebuilding her life after confronting past trauma. However, in her pursuit to move forward, she discovers that not all memories should be forgotten. This realization leads to intrapersonal struggles that affect her relationships with others, offering a profound reflection on the complexities of human emotions and experiences.
