Three Lecturers from Sastra Inggris USD Earn Their PhDs
Three lecturers from Sastra Inggris Universitas Sanata Dharma (Ms. Elisa Dwi Wardhani, Ms. Dewi Widyastuti, and Mr. Risang Baskara) have recently achieved significant milestones in their academic careers by earning their Doctorates, enhancing the scholarly atmosphere and broadening the academic landscape in Sastra Inggris USD.
Elisa Dwi Wardhani received her Doctorate from Fakultas Ilmu Budaya at Universitas Gadjah Mada on January 25, 2024. Her dissertation, "Ruang Liminal dalam novel-novel Ahmad Fuadi: Kajian Pascakolonial", discusses postcolonial literature. This semester, Ms. Elisa is contributing her expertise to the curriculum by teaching Poetry and Cultural Studies.

Dewi Widyastuti graduated from the Faculty of Business, Design, and Arts at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, Malaysia, on the same date. She focuses her study on Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Her dissertation, "Identity Formation in English as Foreign Language (EFL) Creative Writing in Indonesia," discusses the identity construction in EFL creative writing contexts. Ms. Dewi is currently teaching English Conversation and Journalism this semester.
F.X. Risang Baskara graduated on April 5, 2023 and earned his PhD from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, Malaysia, presenting a dissertation titled "The Effects of Flipped Classroom Instruction on Indonesian EFL Students' Speaking Ability in One Higher Learning Institution." Mr. Risang's research explores pedagogical approaches in EFL speaking skills enhancement. He is teaching English Composition and LTDC this semester. His research interests encompass a broad spectrum, including flipped learning, blended learning, technology-enhanced language learning, and AI in language learning.
These achievements highlight the dedication and scholarly contributions of the three lecturers, further enriching the academic environment of Sastra Inggris. Their areas of expertise will undoubtedly benefit students and contribute to the department's academic excellence.
