Once You Meet the Opportunity, Never Think Twice to Take It
KOLITA is an annual event, which is open for researchers, teachers or lecturers, and also college students to present their researches. This is one of the big opportunities for us as English Letters’ students, to express our abilities in public, in an international forum.
There were so many researchers presenting their researches in such young ages. In other words, this opportunity can be taken by us as well. We are not just students, we are beginner researchers. Believe it or not, we all are just going to be researchers at least for our masterpiece, a.k.a SKRIPSI. And we should know that we always can do the best with the help by our great lecturers.
For sure in KOLITA, I did not only learn how to share my research result, to accept many positive suggestions but also learn how to gain and absorb new information then apply them for the betterment of my undergraduate thesis.
This is one of the things for those that soon enough will be taking seminar of skripsi in our department. It is such a beautiful and priceless experience. You better keep this in mind.
Anyway, this conference was held for three days in a row. On the second day, Pak Harris and I presented our research entitled “The Comparative Study on The Translation of The Instagram Translate and Human Translation with A Special Reference to @Basukibtp Instagram Account”. I thought the object taken from Bapak Ahok’s Instagram captions attracted Prof. Dr. Bambang Kaswanti Purwo, a prominent Indonesian linguist, to come and had discussion with us. Once again, I was so thankful! I personally felt honored since he gave some upbeat suggestions toward this research.
And one last thing, but not least. I should say that becoming a part of this conference was not as hard as you might think. Once you have the ripe topic you want to develop, you can do it. KOLITA is just the same with other conferences. Now, just be ready and prepare your idea. Be a part of KOLITA next year and find your bonus experience in Universitas Sanata Dharma. (Stefani Veronika)
