Dita Journal: Global Leadership Program
Global Leadership Program
Global Leadership Program (GLP) is one of the annual programs of five Jesuit Universities in Asia Pacific. This year, Sanata Dharma University sent 6 delegates to Sogang University-South Korea. They are Maria Wulandari (PBI), Yoga Pradana Marutadewa (PBI), Anindita Dewangga Puri (English Letters), Hermawan (English Letters), Nita Bonita Prasetyo (Psychology), and Valentinus Kelvin Heryanto (Mechanical Engineering). The GLP’s theme of this year is Technology and Human Value. We have prepared all of the discussion material and culture performance for two months before we left for South Korea.
Preparing to leave for South Korea
The D-day!
We flew to Korea on 2nd August 2013 via Bali and commenced our long journey to South Korea. We left Bali at 01.00 am local time. It took about 5 hours to go to Korea. We arrived at 09.00 p.m. South Korean time. The delegate from Sogang University picked us up and drove us to Sogang University. There was nothing serious to do this time except shopping and walking around Seoul streets! :D
We strolled Myeong-dong, Namsan Tower, Teddy Bear Museum, and Summer Sale Seoul. We went to the National Museum of Korea.

Culture Shock
It was the Day One. We began the first day by listening to the welcoming speech from representatives of Sogang University. We introduced each other in Country Presentation session. We then were taken for a campus tour and the students were invited to know more about Sogang University. At the end of the day we had a gala dinner and culture performance from each country.
This is my first journey abroad. I really get a culture shock, because the culture in Korea is very different from Indonesia. My friends and I have to walk around Seoul and take subway or bus or taxi when we need to go out. Sometimes I feel so nervous because in my opinion the delegates from other countries speak English very fluently. In a gathering, I have to push myself to speak English. Whether clear or not is a different matter. :D
All in all, it is so fun here because I find my friends very kind and helpful to me. (dita)
