Bu Elisa Made Way in the Asian Conference on Cultural Studies, Japan
ACCS 2013 has the theme of “Intersecting Belongings: Cultural Conviviality and Cosmopolitan Futures” which attempts to open up discussion and critical reflection and analysis on the emergence of identities formed by intersection of multiple and multi-sited belongings precipitated by globalization and affected by economic instability and parochialism, to reach a better understanding and mutual respect. Elisa Dwi Wardani represents Sanata Dharma University at ACCS 2013 held at Ramada hotel, Osaka, Japan, by presenting a paper entitled “The revival of ancient glory and identity politics: a case of Jogja Hiphop Foundation.” Along the course of the seminar, the participants discussed the cosmopolitan futures and contemporary challenges instigated by the meetings of cultures, trans-national and multicultural belonging as they are shaped by economic and political instability, environmental catastrophe, and fundamentalism.
