USD Graduate Program Holds International Guest Lecture with Pietro Fasola
The Graduate Program of Universitas Sanata Dharma (USD), in collaboration with the Office of Vice Rector IV, successfully organized a Guest Lecture entitled “Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana, and the Bandung Conference: Non-Alignment, Positive Neutralism, and Strategic Diplomacy in the Cold War” on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. The event, held at the Raja Manggala Conference Room, Manasa Graha Building, featured researcher Pietro Fasola from the University of Florence, Italy, as the main speaker. He explored the history of strategic diplomacy during the Cold War era.
The academic event was officially opened with welcoming remarks from the Director of the USD Graduate Program, Prof. Paulus Sarwoto, Ph.D., who also thoughtfully moderated the in-depth discussion session.
The presence of university leaders demonstrated strong institutional support for this international collaboration initiative, including USD Vice Rector IV, Caecilia Tutyandari, Ph.D., as well as the Head of the Master’s Program in English Language Studies, Agustinus Hardi Prasetyo, S.Pd., Ph.D. Also in attendance were other program heads, including Dr. G. Budi Subanar, SJ., from the Doctoral Program in Cultural Studies and Dr. Yustina Devi Ardhiani, M.Hum., from the Master’s Program in Cultural Studies.
The participants’ enthusiasm was evident from the strong attendance of lecturers and students representing various study programs at Universitas Sanata Dharma. Participants came from the Doctoral Program in Cultural Studies, Master’s Program in English Studies, Master’s Program in Cultural Studies, Master’s Program in Management, Master’s Program in English Language Education, and Master’s Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education. Additionally, undergraduate students from English Language Education, English Literature, and Indonesian Literature also took part in this enriching global discussion.
The event concluded with a productive question-and-answer session and a token of appreciation presented to the speaker. Through this guest lecture, Universitas Sanata Dharma continues to strengthen historical and international political perspectives among its academic community while fostering closer collaboration with global educational institutions.
