Yells of SPD-ers

To step up the intensity of spirit and motivation, some 70 USD PBI students taking the subject Service Programme Design (SPD-ers) this semester practised the yells or slogans of their groups at the open stage of USD Mrican campus on Monday 6 May 2013. What an inspiring activity! At USD PBI, the subject SPD, which is one of the compulsory 3-credit courses, has now been offered every semester in the last several years. This course assists students to build up and develop their entrepreneurship skills, such as abilities to be an excellent team member/player and to communicate with others clearly and effectively.    

In the PBI academic guideline, version 2012, it is stated that SPD "gives students insights into the concept of curriculum, its program design and implementation. In this course, the students are introduced to the concept of curriculum in general and also to the current curriculum used in Indonesia and its elements including syllabus and lesson unit plan. Besides, students are equipped with the knowledge of material development. Having the knowledge of curriculum, of its elements, and of material development, students are also given practice to develop teaching materials for grade-schools based on the current curriculum used. As the final product, the students are expected to generate a set of lesson planning documents" (Panduan Akademik PBI, 2012: 42).
