Thu, 03 Oct 2024

The English Language Education Study Programme (ELESP) of Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, successfully held its annual Upward Mobility event on Saturday, September 28, 2024 with the theme “Inspiring futures: Alumni insights for career success”. The hybrid seminar, which took place at Ruang Seminar Driyarkara welcomed current students, prospective students, and accomplished alumni.

The event was livestreamed on YouTube. It featured presentations from three distinguished PBI USD graduates. Aurelia Oktavia Putri, S.Pd., an alumna from batch 2020 shared her experiences as an entrepreneur in the entertainment business. While Alfonsa Vina Kanasya, M.Pd. offered insights on her journey towards achieving an international career path, Hana Lintang Prabaningtyas, S.Pd., Gr., discussed her journey in the education field. Both of them are ELESP alumnae from batch 2017.

On behalf of the ELESP chairperson, Miss Rina Purnamaningwulan, M.Hum. opened the event with a welcoming speech. "Through Upward Mobility, we aim to motivate our students to study harder and plan their future paths more effectively, so that they can come to a great achievement upon graduating from ELESP," she stated.

The seminar attracted a diverse audience. Approximately 100 on-site participants, primarily ELESP students from batches 2021, attended the event. The YouTube livestream allowed ELESP fresh graduates and high school students to join remotely. Participants engaged in a lively Q&A session with all three speakers to gain valuable insights related to various career paths and opportunities available to English Language Education graduates.

"I feel more confident and optimistic about my future after hearing from these successful alumni," said Ana, a second-year PBI student who attended the event. "The diverse careers our seniors have pursued have inspired me to follow their path to success."

The Upward Mobility 2024 event not only strengthened the bond between the study program and its alumni but also provided current and prospective students with a clearer vision of their potential future paths upon graduating from the study program. As the event concluded, participants were inspired by the newfound motivation and a broader perspective on the opportunities awaiting them in the field of English Language Education and beyond.
