English ‘Study Buddy’ to Prepare for Teaching Practicum in Thailand

Tue, 25 Jun 2024

English Language Education department teaming up with KITES recently hosted an awesome program called the “Study Buddy” to help its students improve their English skills. The program ran from May 29th to June 14th, 2024 and was organized by students and lecturer from the English Language Education study program.

They used a study group approach to provide personalized learning experiences. Basically, they worked out schedules and locations that suited everyone involved. The main goal of this initiative was to prepare teacher candidates for their upcoming International teaching program in Joseph Upatham School in Thailand. They focused on improving teacher candidates’ speaking, listening, writing, and reading skills in English. They also wanted to boost their confidence in using the language.

To kick things off, KITES led an initial meeting with the teacher candidates. They discussed the syllabus and recommended materials for the sessions. The collaboration ensured that everything was well-organized and met the clients’ needs.

Despite a few challenges at the beginning, like some scheduling conflicts, the program was a success. The study buddy method really worked well and created a fun and supportive learning environment. Participants reported that their language skills improved and they felt more confident speaking English.

Overall, this initiative was in the right direction for preparing future educators for international teaching roles. The program organizers are excited about the long-term benefits and are looking forward to continuing their collaboration with the students.
