PBI-ers Learn to Lead Globally

Fri, 20 Sep 2013

The 6th Global Leadership Programme (GLP) this year took place in Sogang University, Seoul, South Korea. This year GLP focused on one of the world’s most recent issues, namely “Technology and Human Values”. Two PBI-ers, together other four students representing Sanata Dharma University, were Maria Wulandari and Yoga Marutadewa, both of batch 2009. The leadership programme lasted for a week, from 4 till 10 August 2013, involving students from five countries in Asia, namely South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines and China. The one-week event consisted of attending lectures on technology and human values; having field trips around various places in Seoul, such as the National Science Museum, Seoul Energy Dream Center, Global Green Growth Institute, and Institute Pasteur Korea; performing Indonesian’s folkdances and songs; cooking Korean food; wearing hanbok (Korean traditional costumes); and joining a Korean tea ceremony.

All participants got many irreplaceable experiences and new knowledge by joining this program. The lectures and discussions offered us many perspectives about current global issues especially about how to solve a problem on technology itself. As students of PBI, we believe that the Global Leadership Programme teaches us to be responsible yet open-minded future leaders. We learn not only about academic matters but also about personality development as we faced various cultures and way of thinking. We encourage all of PBI students to join next year’s GLP.
