MPBI Student Initiation: Strengthening Global Outlook in English Education, MPBI Welcomes 28 New Students

Yogyakarta, August 25, 2025 — The Master’s Program of English Language Education (MPBI) of Sanata Dharma University welcomed the new students of the 2025 Batch. MPBI proudly admitted 28 students from across Indonesia, including one international student from Thailand, marking a significant milestone in strengthening MPBI’s academic community and global outlook.

The event was officially opened by Prof. Concilianus Laos Mbato, M.A., Ed.D., Head of the MPBI Program, who shared valuable insights on the curriculum, academic expectations, and the importance of maintaining enthusiasm for lifelong learning. He encouraged students to “trust and enjoy the process” and remain steadfast in their commitment to personal and professional growth.

The lecturers, the class of 2024, and an alumni attended the event to greet the new students. The gathering highlighted the MPBI’s vision of preparing educators who are not only professionally competent but also deeply dedicated to advancing education in diverse contexts through metacognition and Ignatian pedagogy for a dignified society.

The event featured small-group discussions where the new students can engage directly with alumni, senior students, and lecturers, gaining practical advice, tips, and first-hand perspectives on academic life. These lively exchanges not only reflected the passion and perseverance of future educators but also emphasized the importance of collaboration and mutual support as essential values in the journey of professional and personal growth. This is more than an annual tradition, it embodies MPBI’s dedication to shaping future educators who combine knowledge, resilience, and passion to transform classrooms and communities across Indonesia and beyond.
