Sharing Moments on Student Workload

Sharing Moments and Dialogal Forums are two good practices carried out at Sanata Dharma University and have been going on for a long time. This tradition of open discussion between lecturers and students is an opportunity for students to convey the various learning challenges they face and propose various breakthroughs that improve the quality of learning. Sharing Moments activities are usually held in the middle of the semester to evaluate ongoing learning.
In the sharing moments held on April 26, students specifically responded to the policy regarding SWL measurement in the student academic information system implemented by the university. The integration of SWL measurements is carried out to ensure that students' learning load is neither too heavy nor too light. University quality assurance centers must ensure that students receive adequate learning opportunities. The integration of SWL measurements was carried out at the encouragement of international accreditation institutions and from CALOHEA research recommendations. Sanata Dharma University is part of the CALOHEA Project which aims to measure and compare learning outcomes from universities in Asia. This project was attended by eight countries in Asia with 23 universities and 5 universities from 5 different countries in Europe.
Sharing Moments is also one of a series of activities carried out in SWL measurements. Usually measurements are carried out by conducting surveys with students, analyzing data from surveys and focused group discussions. The results of this FGD are in line with previous surveys that the majority of learning loads are in accordance with curriculum plans and demands. A small number are felt to be too light or heavy. The review of the semester learning plan will be reviewed in a follow-up learning workshop to respond to courses with too heavy or too light a load.
Prof. Concilianus Laos Mbato as head of the study program emphasized the importance of input from students to improve the quality of learning and help students graduate on time. Present at this sharing moments event were students from the Class of 2021 and 2022. Several outstanding students who graduated in less than 2 years also attended and provided useful input for the development of the study program.
