This event is organized and sponsored by Loyola School of Theology, Ateneo de Manila. This series of talks presents an interactive discussion on the field of Psalms and Wisdom Literature. It aims at providing the students with an overview of recent scholarly researches on this particular field and thus challenging them to be more engaged in class through various class activities such as: presentation, small-group discussion, and written reviews. Furthermore, this event also encourages the students to do and to experience of making an exegetical analysis of selected pericopes from the different books within Psalms and Wisdom Literature.
The first half of this course will provide an overview of Old Testament Sapiential literature. A general overview of each book will be specified, with emphasis on its history, literary type, structure, motifs, and issues in theology. An exegetical analysis of chosen pericopes from various books will be offered to assist the student understand some of the text's diachronic and synchronic categories. Furthermore, the goal of this inquiry is to recognize the educational approach within Wisdom Literature in educating the youth.
